Thanksgiving recipes: Turkey!
Citrus, Roasted Garlic, and Fresh Herbs
When it comes to Thanksgiving most families have a turkey at the center of their dinner table. My favorite way to roast a turkey is to stuff the inside with beautiful citrus and herbs. Food and Wine offers an easy and perfect way to utilize sweet clementines and roasted garlic with savory thyme to make your turkey succulent and flavorful.
The Sides on Thanksgiving Day
Crock Pot Mashed Potatoes are Easy!
Mashed potatoes are one of the longest and messiest side dishes to make on Thanksgiving. They are also an American staple. Try this amazing recipe that uses a crockpot so you can start it and forget about it. The roasted garlic and fresh herbs add a special touch making these a favorite you can make year after year.
Thyme Enhances the Sweetness of the Carrots & Brown Sugar…
Carrots are a nice addition to any Thanksgiving table as a vegetable that adds a vibrant orange and is a sweet vegetable that is still healthy. I love adding fresh thyme to my carrots and paired with brown sugar these are a family favorite in our home. They are also very simple which “simple” always wins in my kitchen.
Buttery Herb Stuffing. Need I say more?
You will never stuff another turkey with anything but citrus, herbs, and garlic after making my favorite turkey and now you will never put your stuffing in your turkey after roasting it gently in a generous amount of butter and fresh herbs. Add some of the turkey stock in the end and allow to crisp at the top for a perfect finishing gourmet touch. I always sprinkle fresh parsley on the top for color and freshness.
FRESH is always Best. Ditch the canned soup this year and try something new!
About 10 years ago I was asked to make a green bean casserole. I hated those soggy, salty, and messy platters that made it to the table every Thanksgiving. When I was asked to make one I was determined to make one that was fresh and tasted good. I found a recipe that used fresh herbs and green beans. Instead of using canned mushroom soup, you make a quick sauce with butter, flour, and garlic plus sautee sliced mushrooms. The subtle change is delightful. It tastes like a vegetable dish instead of a salty glob of goo.
Thanksgiving Recipes 2021: Desserts!
Chocolate Crinkle Cookies are welcoming change.
These chocolate crinkle cookies are a welcoming change to the dessert table and they’re so simple. I add a dash of cinnamon to my recipe because we are cinnamon fans and it goes perfectly with the chocolate. Add your own favorites like peanut butter chips or toffee. These are perfect to make days before and can stay fresh in a tin.
It’s a Cookie thing in our Family!
Our family definitely enjoys a good pie but our absolute favorite is cookies. These pecan pumpkin pie chocolate chip cookies have everything in them for the fall. The warm spices of pumpkin pie with chocolate and nutty pecans. You won’t need pie with these.
From our family to yours we hope you have a fabulous Thanksgiving. Be thankful for all you have as we are thankful for all of you!
